Scar: At the height of the abdomen, it is hidden under the bathing robes, becoming almost imperceptible over time.
Pregnancy, while very important in a woman’s life, ultimately damages the body as there is expansion of the skin and distension of the abdominal muscles. It also leaves a buildup of fat in the lower abdominal area and after delivery is not corrected with gymnastics or regimen and often even with liposuction. It is in this circumstance that surgery of the abdomen is advisable to correct the changes left by the gestation.
The surgery consists of removing a spindle of skin from the region below the navel. The lateral extension of the spindle is proportional to the excess skin, the scar, therefore, varies with the type of the abdomen and is located horizontally just above the implantation of the pubic hair and extends laterally according to the volume of its abdomen and is hidden under the bathing robes, becoming almost imperceptible over time. The definitive result of the surgery is obtained around the twelfth to the eighteenth postoperative month, since in the first months the abdomen may present moderate “swelling” that regresses with time. The anesthesia used is general or epidural, depending on the evaluation of the anesthetist, in some special cases, local anesthesia with sedation is used.
The abdomen surgery is one of the esthetic surgeries that provides more rewarding results, as it removes skin and fat, with consequent reduction of weight and brings back the body contour that the patient had before pregnancy, providing safety by wearing lighter clothes, when going to the beach.
Male patients may also undergo this type of surgery, which is indicated among others for patients who have gained great weight loss or who have suffered from marked abdominal flaccidity over time.
